This year for Christmastime, all of my immediate family living in Michigan came to our house for the holidays. It was a lot of fun! My brothers can entertain any crowd, and my mom and dad smoked us out on Christmas eve (forgot to open the damper on the fireplace, so all the smoke came in the house instead of up the chimney! We were at church, so we came home to what we thought was a minor house fire!) Some of the stockings that "were hung by the chimney with care" are now stained with soot. Oh well--we'll be able to retell that story just by looking at the stockings! Gracie, our neice, came over for most of the day, and she and Ava yucked it up as always. The two of them are a total hoot together. The whole family has the movie 'Frosty the Snowman' memorized because the two of them wanted to watch it over and over again.
Every time the Frosty song came on, the two of them started dancing--hilarious! I even got them with the camcorder because it was too funny.
We spent the 27th of December at Christopher's family's house to celebrate with them. Some of our out-of-town relatives were there, and it is always fun to catch up with them. Ava had such a good time opening her gifts, that she started opening any gift she could get her hands on. She opened some of Uncle Carl's tools, Grandpa's boxes, etc. She really enjoys the unwrapping part! She got a beautiful home-made blanket from Grandma Zirk, and really cherishes it already. She likes to have it in the crib with her at nighttime.
